About Us
From group chat to growing community for Asian languages…
What began as a simple group chat – Japan Fans & Friends – has blossomed into CEAL: the Centre for Enthusiasts of Asian Languages, based in the heart of the Netherlands: Utrecht.
Thanks to our amazing volunteers, dedicated teachers and enthusiastic members, we now offer weekly lessons, clubs and cultural activities. From language exchange to mahjong, from martial arts to anime concerts – we do it all together.
Everyone is welcome. There’s no payment system, just donations. We believe in low-threshold learning, shared curiosity and creating a warm, inclusive community for all.

Japanese Courses
Have you always wanted to learn Japanese? Now you can do so, for free, in our classes led by our certified teachers, who are also native speakers. Join our classes in Leidsche Rijn and Vleuterweide!
Nederlands oefenen
Do you want to improve your Dutch in a fun and supportive environment? Practise your Dutch with native speakers and fellow learners, and grow your confidence step by step.
Korean Studygroup
Are you curious about the Korean language and culture, and would you like to learn more about it? Join other learners and native speakers in our Korean study group in Leidsche Rijn!
Mandarin Chinese
Earlier this year, CEAL proudly launched its first “Introduction to Mandarin”-course, led by Xianning Chu. The classes were a great success, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future.
Indonesian Studygroup
